Head of Female football and Women's First Team Manager (Part-Time)

Briton Ferry Llansawel FC is seeking an ambitious, experienced, and highly motivated Head of Female football and Women’s First Team Manager to lead the club’s senior women’s programme competing in the FAW Adran Premier, the highest level of women’s football in Wales.

This is a key leadership role within the club, offering the opportunity to work in an elite environment while shaping the long-term development of women’s football and the clubs female player pathway.

The Role

​

The Women’s First Team Manager will have overall responsibility for the leadership, performance, and development of the Women’s First Team, ensuring competitive success, strong standards, and alignment with the club’s strategic vision.

​

The role also plays a vital part in connecting the club’s female academy pathway to the first team environment, supporting sustainable long-term success.

​

Location: South Wales

​

The post holder will be expected to work evenings and weekends in line with the FAW Adran Premier fixture schedule and Academy requirements.

​

Key Responsibilities

​

First Team Performance

  • Lead the Women’s First Team in all FAW Adran Premier fixtures and competitions

  • Plan, deliver, and review high-quality training sessions and matchday preparation

  • Set and review individual and team performance objectives

  • Manage team selection, tactical planning, and in-game decision-making

  • Utilise performance analysis to support player and team development

Player Recruitment & Development

  • Identify, recruit, and retain players aligned with the club’s competitive objectives

  • Support individual player development plans

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture

Female Pathway & Academy Alignment

  • Oversee strategic alignment between the female academy pathway and the Women’s First Team working closely with the Academy Head of Phases and Coaches.

  • Work collaboratively with Academy Manager, Heads of Phases and Head Coaches to ensure consistency in coaching philosophy and standards

  • Support clear progression routes from academy to first team in line with club’s player development principles.

Key Club Requirements

  •  To be instantly recognised as the lead person for the female game within the club.

  •   Ensure excellent communication providing complete clarity to all within the female structure

  •  Ensure Performance at all levels is  in line with club expectations

  •  Attend FAW seminars and meetings as required

  •  Demonstrate a clear pathway from the Academy to First Team.

 

Support Structure

​

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary support team, including:

  • Assistant Coach

  • Goalkeeper Coach

  • Medical Lead (Physiotherapy / Sports Therapy)

  • Strength & Conditioning support

  • Performance Analysis support

  • Team Administration, Operations, and Player Welfare support

  • Academy Manager

  • Academy Heads of Phases

  • Academy Head Coaches

  • Academy Coaches

The club recognises the importance of strong working relationships and will support the appointed manager in bringing in their own staff, subject to:

  • Club approval

  • Budgetary considerations

  • Relevant qualifications, safeguarding, and FAW compliance requirements

This approach is intended to support performance, continuity, and a high-performance working environment.

Essential Requirements

  • UEFA A Licence (mandatory)

  • Valid FAW Safeguarding Certificate

  • FAW Emergency First Aid / First Aid Certificate

  • Enhanced DBS Check

Desirable Experience

  • Experience coaching or managing within the female game at an elite level

  • Previous experience in the FAW Adran Premier or a comparable elite environment

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary performance environment

  • Involvement in player pathways and long-term development frameworks

Shortlisting within 5 working days of the closing date

Interviews expected week commencing 16th March 2026.

Appointment confirmed shortly thereafter

The successful candidate is expected to commence the role ahead of the 2026/27 FAW Adran Premier season. Where possible, the club is open to a handover period during the remainder of the 2025/26 season, during which the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to assess the current squad and begin pre-season planning.
