Adran Premier holders Cardiff City are the visitors to Old Road this weekend in another rearranged fixture. This match coming on the back of last weekends 2-0 win over Swansea City which was the Reds 25th league win in at Old Road.
Cardiff come into the game looking to bounce back from an Adran Trophy defeat to TNS in their last match. The Bluebirds are currently in second place in the table and a win would see them back on top heading into the new year.
The Reds can move above Swansea into third place with a win and will move closer to a top four finish to phase one. After a huge win last time out in front of a bumper crowd at Old Road manager Rhys James is excited ahead of the visit of Cardiff City.
“Another massive test but again like last week, it's one we look forward too now.
“These were the games we were desperate to be involved with when we were in tier 2, so now we love them because we're in the league we belong to be in.
“The team are in high spirits at the moment and rightly so.
“We are beating good teams and getting good crowds behind us.”
After being disappointed of only leaving Cardiff with a point, The Reds had lead 2-0 before two late goals for City, James is looking to ensure that doesn’t happen again,
“We were disappointed to only come away with a point when we played them away, which shows how well the team did and how we executed the plan.
“We have to go and show the same level of passion and hunger again.”
Old road has become a fortress for Ferry with no teams taking points away from the Road in their last 25 matches. Cardiff will pose the biggest treat to that record having won six of the last seven meetings between the sides. Despite Cardiff being the likely favourites for the game James believes in his player are ready saying,
“I've always wanted to make this a place in which people enjoy their football and I believe we are doing that.
“If the environment is right, the players will do anything for you and we've got that here.
“Its going to be a very tough game, but we can't wait to get going.”
Cardiff will pose problems for the Reds with Adran Premier leading scorer Ffion Price, with eight goals, always a treat from set pieces as well as open play. Eliza Collie has also been in good form for the Bluebirds scoring five goals two of them against the Reds.
