Swansea City are the visitors to Old Road this weekend as the Reds continue their Adran Premier Season. The two sides have not met since April 2021 when the Swans won 2-0 at Old Road.
That fixture was the last time the Reds didn’t win a league game at Old Road. Since then its been 24 straight wins at Old Road in league matches. The team looking to make use of the fortress that Old Road has become to make 25 wins.
The Reds come into the game unbeaten in four games across all competitions. A 4-1 over Penybont in the Adran Trophy was followed by a 11-1 over Penydarren in the Welsh Cup. Their only league game in this run saw them come away from Jenner Park with a point despite all the pressure they pilled on the Linnets. Their last match was in the Adran Trophy quarter final where they beat Aberystwyth 1-0.
The Swans have been in good despite losing to TNS in their last match having been unbeaten in seven games prior. Currently third in the table Swansea are five points ahead of the Reds, who have two games in hand.
A win for the Reds would see them back into the top four and manager Rhys James shared his thoughts on the challenge ahead.
“We are very aware of the challenges ahead this weekend with opposition but also the weather as well.
“We as a squad look forward to these games because we always want to test ourselves against the best, and Swansea will be right up there this year.
“We have got to believe in our ability and game plan against the top teams because we've been a problem for them so far.”
With the poor weather causing havoc on the Reds fixtures in recent weeks they are looking at a tough schedule of fixtures over the coming weeks.
“It is going to be tough for us over the next month with the amount of games we have got to play and no break over Christmas is certainly not ideal.
“It's really important over the next month that we utilise the squad with playing twice a week, the team will be tired and playing tough games, but I know they'll give everything each and every time they do play.”
