Match Preview: Penydarren BGC v Briton Ferry Llansawel

Briton Ferry Llansawel head to Merthyr to Face Penydarren BGC in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup at The Bont Playing Fields.  Rhys James team will be looking to book their place in the quarte finals with a win. 


The Reds came though another away tie in the last round with a 5-0 win over Taffs Well.  Goals from Megan Kearle (2), Alison Witts (2), and Aimee Heath securing their passage into this round of 16.  


Penydarren overcame Llanelli via penalties in the last round after a 2-2 draw at The Bont.  Amy Davies and Isabelle Kaler scoring the goals for Penydarren. 


Penydarren are currently in third place in the SWWGL Women Combined with four wins and two draws.  Their last match saw them put 10 goals past Tredegar with Kaler scoring four and Kate Allen also netting a hat trick. 


The Reds will need to be alive at the back as Kaler has scored 18 goals in the league and provided 11 assists.  The Penydarren attacker has been in free scoring mode this season and even hit a double hat trick in a game in September against Lucas Cwmbran.

The Reds went back to winning ways last week beating Penybont 4-1 in the Adran Trophy.  Maia Owen, Lucy Powell, Aimee Heath and an Alison Witts penalty helping to send the side in the quarter finals. 


Ferry will today look to book themselves into another quarter final with a win.

Elsewhere in today’s Welsh cup ties Cascade will look to beat Adran Premier opposition as they travel to the capital to face holders Cardiff City at Cardiff International Sports Stadium.  Swansea City will take on Carmarthen Town as they look to get their first Welsh Cup win since 2018.

Last years runners up Wrexham will face Adran North side CPDM Y Felinheli.  Last season Adran North winners Llandudno will host Premier league side TNS.  Caldicot Town will welcome Barry Town and NFA FC will host Aberystwyth Town.  The only tie to not feature a be at Maridunum Playing Fields where Johnston will host Adran South leaders Pontypridd United.
