After back to back home wins the Reds are on the road this weekend as they head to LLandarcy to face Swansea City. The sides met two weeks ago at Old Road with the Reds running out 2-0 winners. Lucy Powell and Alison Witts with the goals for Reds.
This match will be a vital game for both sides with just a point separating the two sides. Ferry is third with 18 points and the Swans in fourth with 17. A win for the Reds would see them pull further away from the bottom half and closer to a top four finish to phase one.
Swansea also will be looking to ensure that they make the top four and win would see them go above Ferry, although the Reds still have a game in hand. The Swans will also be looking to avoid losing more ground on Cardiff City and The New Saints.
Swansea will go into the game having lost their last two Adran Premier games having also lost 1-0 to TNS, Lexi Jones striking in added time a Park Hall.
While most of the league enjoyed a break over Christmas the Reds saw two rearranged games over the festive period. Swansea were the first to come to Old Road losing 2-0, before last week when Cardiff City were the Visitors. Maia Owen gave the Reds the lead after 18 minutes but a Ffion Price goal just before half time levelled the game. Lucy Powell add two goals in the second half giving the Reds a 3-1 win.
After defeat at Old Road Swansea will looking to win this fixture especially at their home ground. Reds Manager Rhys James believes his side are ready for another challenge,
“Swansea will be desperate to take revenge against us I'm sure, but we've got to have solutions to what they throw at us.
“It's an opportunity for the group to show that they can performance away from home as well.
“I'm sure the conditions will play a factor this weekend too but we are really excited and looking forward to another tough battle.
This seasons Adran Premier has proved to be one of the most competitive in the leagues history with all teams taking points from each other.
“I think every game in this league is hard, there's no team where you are guaranteed to win.”
After two huge wins the Reds Manager knows the team cannot take anything for granted.
“We have to go do the same thing this weekend, and be under no illusion that we go into this game as favourites.
“Swansea are still a top side and will have more players available this time, we have to go there and start strong again.
“The team are full of confidence at the moment after those two fantastic results.
“I thought we were excellent in both games, defended really well, being resilient in tough moments and we were aggressive in the press and took our chances well.”
