Match Report: Briton Ferry Llansawel 1-1 Aberystwyth Town

Points shared in tight contest

Briton Ferry Llansawel were forced to share the points with Aberystwyth Town after a hard fought contest at The Renewable Centre Stadium. 


Jess Denscombe gave Ferry the lead five minutes in with a shot from out on the right.  Despite creating several chances during the first half Ferry went into half time with just a one goal lead.  The second half saw Aber battle their way back into the came and they levelled with a goal from Libby Isaac. 


Briton Ferry Llansawel remain top of the Adran Premier Plate conference but now only a point ahead of Barry Town United, who they met at Jenner Park next week. 

Ferry made a bright start to the game and their early pressure was rewarded with an early goal.  The ball falling to Jess Denscombe who chipped the keeper from 30 yards out on the right. 


Maia Owen was fouled and Ferry were awarded a free kick on the left.  Meg Kearle swung the ball into the box but Sophie Steele was able to punch away.


Owen was fouled again and this gave Kearle another chance from a set piece.  Kearle sent the ball towards the far corner but Steele was able to get a strong hand to it to deny Ferry a second.

Maia Owen was fouled again as she looked to go past a defender.  Kearle again took the free kick sending it into the box where Manon Thomas met it in the air.  Thomas headed towards goal but her effort was wide.


Manon Thomas was able to get on a loose pass from Aber and she sent the ball to Freya Peyton.  Peyton went for goal but it was wide.


Lucy Powell took a free kick on the right and whipped the ball into he near post.  Laura-May Walkley Witts was first to it but sent her header wide.  Then from the resulting corner the ball came to Walkley-Witts who tried to hook the ball into the goal but again her effort was wide.

Aber had the first effort of the second period when  the ball was played to Cerys Bufton who shot well wide. 


Bufton went close when her next chance came.  Bufton winning the ball from Denscombe and shooting from close range but Courtney Young pulled off a great save to deny her.


Aber continued to push looking for an equaliser and Amy Jenkins tried from distance but sent her shot wide.

Aber work in the second half paid off as they equalised though Libby Isaac.


Freya Peyton made a breakaway run into the box.  She was able to Denscombe who crossed the ball to the far post but Crofts was unable to reach it.


As the clock ticked down Laura-May Walkley-Witts played a though ball into the path of Peyton.  Peyton lined up and sot but her effort went just wide of the goal.
