Penalty drama earns Barry point
Briton Ferry Llansawel were forced to settle for a draw after a controversial late penalty earned a point for the visitors.
The first half saw the game swing back and fourth with neither side In control. Chances came for both teams with Ferry having a goal disallowed and Barry hitting the bar. It was in added time that the deadlock was broken when Maia Owen struck.
The second half followed the same pattern with both teams exchanging chances throughout the half. Freya Peyton went close for the Reds before a late penalty decision went in favour of the visitors. Erin Murray took advantage by scoring the equaliser. With the scores level both teams went for a winner with Barry going close in added time.
Ferry remain on top of the Aran Premier plate level on points with Barry having a superior goal difference and with a game in hand.
Ferry’s first chance came from a Lucy Powell corner into the near post. Caitlin Seaborne went to head at goal but it was blocked and Barry cleared.
Jasmine Turner was played in behind the Reds defence but before she could line up a shot Llewellyn made a critical tackle.

Caitlin Seaborne went close to giving the reds the lead when her shot from distance deflected off a Barry defender and was a worry for the keeper who needed to push away from goal.
Alice Broadley sent a high ball into the box which found Powell. Powell tried to direct the ball goal wards but molly Arson was able to put it out for a corner.
A goal month scramble almost saw Lowri Ridings get the ball to Owen for an almost certain tap in but Arson was quickly on to the ball.
Moments later and there was a scramble in the other box. A good ball in from the right gave Barry an overload which caused a blocked shot followed by a save from Young before their final effort hit the bar.
Maia Owen forced Arson into a good save when she broke across the by-line and fired a shot across goal that needed turning around the post.
Caitlin Seaborne then headed in from a Lucy Powell corner but the ref blew for a foul on the keeper.

Into added time and Maia Owen had the ball on the edge of the box and fired a shot past the keeper to give the leads the lead.

Seaborne tried a shot from distance but her deflected effort went straight to the keeper.
Moments later and Freya Peyton was free on the edge of the box. Peyton tried to shot across the goal but her effort was wide.
Barry then went close with a shot from outside the box. Courtney Young was across goal quickly to turn it around the post.
Becca Thomas ran onto a ball over the top and was one on one with Young. Thomas tried to get a shot away but Young was sharp and blocked her.
Ferry won a free kick 30 yards out which Lucy Powell took and forced a good save from the keeper.

Barry then made a break though the Reds defence but Ridings got back and put in a great sliding tackle to stop the danger.
Barry made a quick counter attack and won a penalty when Ridings brought down Becca Thomas. Erin Murray then scored from the spot.
