Briton Ferry Llansawel 6-0 Swansea Uni: Six of the best as Reds beat Students

Briton Ferry strengthened their position at the top of the Genero Adran South with a 6-0 win over Swansea Uni. After a hard fought opening 30 minutes the Reds took over and took another vital victory.

The opening exchanges were scrappy as Swansea Uni tried to disrupt the Reds passing play. The visitors were happy to sit deep and let the Reds take the game to them. The Reds were in control but couldn’t create the chances they would like as Swansea Uni attempted to crowd them out and reduce the space.

The pressure did tell as Lowri Baker and Megan Kearle scored to quick goals to give the Reds the lead. A stunning strike from Megan Kearle in the 42 minute sent the Reds into the break three up.

The Reds looked to add more goals during the second half and had more control over the game. Swansea Uni still kept a deep line allowing the Reds to have the majority of the play. Lowri Ridings added the fourth goal in the 52nd minute. Fleur Jenkins added her name to scoresheet in the 64th minute thanks to another assist from Laura-May Walkley.

Fleur Jenkins had the first real chance for the Reds as she shot from the edge of the box but her effort went straight at the keeper.

Megan Kearle shot wide from an angle after breaking though the box.

Ferry continued the pressure and Alice Broadley tried from distance, but her shot was again straight at the keeper.

A lovely passing move between Ela Roberts and Megan Kearle, with Kearle placing a back heel into the path of Lowri Baker. Baker went for goal, but the keeper made a good save.

Lucy Powell’s corner was cleared to the left of the box and Laura-May Walkley won the ball and put another cross into the box. Her ball found Lowri Ridings who struck at goal but again the keeper saved.

The first goal came in the 34th minute when Laura-May broke into the box from the left and squared the ball finding Lowri Baker. Baker hit a shot into the net.

It was soon two nil as Megan Kearle played in Lucy Powell on goal. Powell put a coolly placed shot past the keeper.
