Match Report Adran Trophy: Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-0 Barry Town United

Ferry into Semi’s

Briton Ferry Llansawel are into the Adran Trophy Semi Finals after a 2-0 win over Barry Town United at The Renewable Centre Stadium. 


With rain from the kick off the two teams not only had to battle each other but the tough conditions as well.  Ferry made a bright start and took the lead after eight minutes.  Jade Crofts with the early goal.  Barry had chances themselves early on but failed to find the target with their efforts wide of the goal.

The second half saw the rain get worse but Ferry were soon two after as Maia Owen grabbed their second.  Barry pushed forward looking to get back in the game but the Ferry defensive stood strong.  A late chance needed a save from Courtney Young who produced a fine stop when called on. 


Briton Ferry can look forward to another Adran Trophy Semi final after making this stage last season.

Ferry enjoyed some early pressure on the Barry box.  Three corners in a row saw a chance come for Lauren Payne.  Payne hitting a shot but it went straight at the keeper.


Barry then had a couple of chances but Courtney Young made two good saves to deny them.

In the sixth minute Laura-May Walkley Witts made a run into the Barry box.  She played the ball forward and found Jade Crofts who hit a great strike past the keeper.


Another chance came soon after when the Barry keeper slipped trying to clear the ball.  It fell to Walkley-Witts who saw a glimpse of goal but her shot went wide.

Walkley-Witts then sent a ball out wide that found Crofts, she played the ball across goal but Maia Owen was unable to reach it.


Barry then gave the Reds a free kick in side the area after the keeper picked up a back pass.  Lucy Powell went for goal a touch to her but she hit the wall.


Barry looked to be though on goal but Brooke Llewellyn made a vital challenge to deny them.  Alice Broadley then made a critical clearance to stop the danger.


Barry had another break though as they looked to get onto a ball into the box but Young was out quickly to claim the ball.


As the half came towards the end Ferry saw two more chances as Meg Kearle saw her shot saved and Owen sent an effort wide.

Walkley-Witts won the ball just in front of the Barry box and fed it into the run of Crofts.  Crofts though was beaten to the by the keeper.


Walkley-Witts won the ball again on the edge of the box and slid a ball into Maia Owen.  Owen showed great composure to send the ball past the keeper.


Owen then played a good though ball into Crofts.  Crofts then skipped past a defender before taking aim at goal, but the keeper saved.


Crofts soon had another chance at goal as she was played in again.  She fired a shot across the goal just missing the far post.

Barry looked to catch Ferry on the counter attack and found Ellie Preece.  Preece took a shot at goal but sent her effort wide.


Alice Broadley went for goal from just outside the box but her effort went wide of the goal.

Barry pushed until the end and went close from a late corner.  The ball sent into the six yard box but headed over the bar.


There was still time for a late Barry chance, Ellie Preece sending a shot across goal but denied but a good save from Young.
