Match Report: Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-1 the New Saints - Oh When the Reds go marching on……

Briton Ferry Llansawel made it back to back wins with a 3-1 win over The New Saints at The Renewable Centre Stadium.
A fast paced first half saw chances and goals for both teams. TNS had a chance go over but it was the Red that struck first. Ashley Griffiths with her first goal for the Reds heading in Meg Kearle’s corner after 13 minutes. TNS equalised though Caitlin Chapman after 20 minutes. Briton Ferry stuck to their task and retook the lead on the half hour mark thanks to ma close range strike from Maia Owen.

The second half saw a toughly contest match as TNS pushed for a goal. The Reds handled their pressure with some strong defending and good stops from Courtney Young. Ferry were still looking to attack and after 70 minutes added a third Grace Evans scoring. Despite show late pressure from the Saints the Reds took the win.
The win see’s the Reds join three other side on six points with Cardiff and Wrexham leading the Adran Premier on nine points.
Chantelle Teare broke though the Ferry defence but Brooke Llewellyn made a well timed tackle to stop her advances. From the corner the Saints had the games first shot but their effort was high over the bar.
Teare had a chance then hitting a shot across goal which came off a Ferry player for a corner. Ferry dealt with the corner but gave TNS another. This time the ball came across the six yard box but missed everyone.
Maia Owen played the ball into the box and won the Reds their first corner. Meg Kearle’s corner was too high for Llewellyn but the Reds regained the ball and found Llewelyn but her shot was saved.
Ashley Griffiths won the ball and played it to Lucy Powell who played a though ball looking for Meg Kearle. Kearle was unable to reach it but Ferry won a corner. Kearle took the corner and swung the ball into the box. Ashley Griffiths met it and sent a bullet header past the keeper into the net.
The visitors got an the equaliser squeezing the ball thought the Reds defence where Caitlin Chapman poked the ball past Young.

Jade Crofts won the ball deep into the TNS half and won the Reds a corner. Lucy Powell sent an in swinging corner from the right and after a scramble in the box Maia Owen restored the Reds lead.
TNS tried to get back level and Lia Lewis took a shot from outside the box but Young made the save. Just after and a ball across goal found Lewis at the back post. Lewis tried to turn the ball in but Young pulled off a fantastic reaction save to deny her.

Alice Broadley sent a ball forward and found Jade Crofts. Crofts took aim at goal but from a tight angle the keeper saved.
From the corner taken but Kearle, Lowri Ridings sent a header towards gaol that was saved. Maia Owen tried to turn in the loose ball but the Rebecca Elliot saved. The TNS keeper taking a knock in the process.
TNS were pressing for another equaliser but the Reds handled everything they threw at them. They pressed the TNS defence and that allowed Jade Crofts to win the ball and send a inch perfect pass into Grace Evans. Evans maintain her cool and slotted the ball past Elliot for her first Ferry goal.

Lexi Harrison whipped a ball into the box from the left but Courtney Young was on hand to deal with it.
Good pressure from the Reds allowed Jade Crofts to win the ball and send Meg Kearle on goal. Kearle hit a powerful strike but keeper made a decent save. Crofts hit a shot after but it was blocked with cries of handball from the Ferry supporters but the ref waved play on.
Freya Peyton won the Reds a free kick which Lucy Powell sent to the back post. Maia Owen head back across goal to Evans but her effort was saved.
