Match Report: Briton Ferry Llansawel 1-4 Cardiff City

Briton Ferry Llansawel fell to defeat to Adran Premier holders Cardiff City at The Renewable Centre Stadium.
On a cold night under the lights at The Renewable Centre Stadium the visitors scored twice in the first half. Mackenzie Olden got the Bluebirds first after 16 minutes with Laura Curnock adding a second after 35 minutes. Ferry had chances themselves with Meg Kearle making Cardiff keeper Ceryn Chamberlain make two saves.

The second half saw the Reds push forward more looking to get back into the game. Lucy Powell and Maia Owen both having efforts at goal but either wide or denied by the keeper. Cardiff were able to score two in three minutes though Kerry Walkett and Any Long but Grace Evans struck one back for Ferry with the goal of the game.
Cardiff go back to the top of the table while Ferry remain in fifth place two points behind TNS with a game in hand.
Cardiff had an early free kick giving Ffion Price a chance to put the ball into the Ferry box. Price sent the ball from just inside the half into the box but Ferry were able to clear.
The visitors tried to pen the Reds back in the early stages of the game looking to build from out wide. The Reds defending gave Cardiff another opportunity from a free kick as Meg Kearle committed a foul. Fiona Barry whipped the ball into the box but it was just over her teammates and Ferry cleared.
Ferry then broke though and found Maia Owen who under pressure from a defender sent the ball narrowly wide.

The Bluebirds tried to work a short corner allowing Barry a chance to shoot but her effort went wide of the goal.
The visitors pressure then told as Mackenzie Olden got herself clear on goal and fired a low shot past Courtney Young.
Maia Owen broke though for the Reds and played the ball back to Meg Kearle. Kearle hit a shot but the Cardiff keeper saved.
Cardiff then had another free kick which Makayla Cook took and went for goal. Young got across goal with two strong hands to turn it wide.
Crofts was almost in when she intercepted a loose pass from City but under pressure her effort from distance was easy for the keeper.
Young made another good save from close range when a downward header looked to sneak inside the post.
Cardiff added a second before half time Laura Curnock turning in on the line from Oldens pass.
Ferry tried to get back into the game with Meg Kearle forcing a save from the City keeper.
Young was needed again before half time making another good save. Young reacting quickly to Nieve Jenkins close range header.

Ferry had the first chance of the second half as they worked the ball around the edge of the Cardiff box. The ball went to Powell who shot from outside the box but sent the ball wide.
Walkley-Witts played the ball into the box looking for Maia Owen but the keeper was able to get to the ball first.
Ffion Price went close to whipping a corner into the near post but Ela Roberts was on hand to cover.

Freya Peyton was fouled on the right giving Ferry a free kick. Lucy Powell sent the ball to the far side but Crofts was unable to craft a chance. Cardiff looked to counter but Young stood strong and made another important save.
Peyton then made a run down the right and worked her way into the box. She hit a shot at the near post but it was saved.
Despite the efforts from ferry to get back into the game the visitor’s added a third just after the hour. Kerry Walklett with the finish. Just two minutes later and Cardiff added a fourth.
Meg Kearle sent the ball across goal and found Peyton who went for goal but her effort was saved.
With 10 minutes to play Ferry kept pushing and Grace Evans got a goal back. Lucy Powell playing the ball to Evans who sent a sublime effort over the keeper into the top corner. A stunning goal for Evans against her former club.
