Tough defeat for Reds

Briton Ferry Llansawel fell to a 6-1 defeat to Swansea City at Llandarcy Academy of Sport


Chloe Chivers and Aimee Deacon both scored twice in the first half for the Swans, which also saw Ferry centre back Brooke Llewellyn sent off for a second yellow.  Jade Crofts pulled a goal back for the Reds just after the restart but two more goals from Deacon sealed the Reds fate.


Briton Ferry remain in fifth place in the table three points behind The New Saints.

A good ball from Lucy Powell almost found its way into the run of Jade Crofts but she was beaten to the ball by the Swans defence.

Swansea had the games first shot when Chloe Chivers tried from distance, her effort well wide of the goal. 


Meg Kearle then sent the ball though the Swans defensive line.  Crofts again after the ball but Swansea’s keeper was out quick to clear. 


Meg Kearle sent a pass forward which was cut out but Walkley-Witts picked it up.  Walkley Witts run into the box and forced a save from the keeper and needed a sharp clearance to stop Ferry’s attack.


It was the home side who took the lead Chloe Chivers turning in at the back post from Caitlin Williams’ ball across goal. 


The hosts soon doubled their lead with Aimee Deacon scrambling the ball into the net from a Swansea corner. 


Aimee Deacon broke though the defence but Lowri Ridings timed her tackle perfectly to stop her in the box.


Swansea scored a third when Chivers hit a shot from the edge of the box.


Swans keep pushing forward and as Brooke Llewellyn tried to stop an attack a Swans player went down.  The Ref showed her a second yellow. 


Aimee Deacon then broke though and was brough down by Ridings giving the hosts a penalty.  Deacon stepped up and scored Swansea’s fourth.

Ferry pulled a goal back early in the second half and Jade Crofts fired a shot in from outside the box. 


Soon after though and Swansea restored their four goal lead Aimee Deacon completing her hat trick .


Meg Kearle then went close with a free kick which need ed a strong hand from the Swansea keeper to turn away from goal. 


Crofts was sent away on the right and tried a shot.  Curling the ball into the near post Crofts could only find the side netting.


Young was needed to stop Chivers powerful shot turning her effort around the post.  From the corner Deacon added another for Swansea despite a double save from Young in a frantic sequence. 


Young was called into action again as she turned another shot onto the bar.
