Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies is pleased to announce Mark Murison as new First team manager and Head of Women’s and Girls Football.
Murison has a good insight into the club as he has been U15 Girls team manager, leading them this season as they top the SWWGL U15 League and look forward to playing in the SWWGL Combined League Cup Final.

After a long and careful selection process Murison’s vision and experience stood out from other candidates. His vison for the player pathway being something aligned with the club. Mark shared why he was attracted to the role at Briton Ferry Llansawel saying,
“I was really attracted to the role because of the ambition of the club and the direction it is heading in.
“Having already been involved with the club through the academy, I have seen first-hand the quality of work being done and the strong foundations that are in place.
“There is an excellent youth setup here, which I believe can support the first team in the years to come.
“When I spoke to the club, it was clear there’s a real desire to build something sustainable and competitive.
“With the combination of a strong pathway for young players and a committed environment, it felt like the right place for me to come in and help move things forward.”
Murison has a long and varied coaching background across both Wales and England. Mark started undertaking his coaching badges while still a player. Mark enjoyed an extensive career in non-league football in England playing for Gravesend and Northfleet and Whitstable and Lordswood amongst others. It was at Whitstable that Mark made his first steps into coaching completing his coaching badges and delivering youth training session while assisting the first team manager.
In 2014 he was appointed first team manager at Bridon Ropes FC. Appointed with three games remaining Murison was able to lead the team to seven points from those games to save the club from relegation. He was able to back this achievement up with strong finishes in the league the following two seasons.
Murison’s first experience in Welsh Football came at Haverfordwest County. Mark held many roles at The Bluebirds including U16 manager where he oversaw five players though to pro contracts with the club. At Haverfordwest Mark also worked as Assistant Manager and Head of coaching helping the club win promotion back to the Cymru Premier and remain in Wales’ topflight.
Mark outlined the importance of youth development and outlined his vison for the continued player pathway at the club.
“I believe in developing young players and giving them a clear pathway into the first team.
“One of my key aims is to create a seamless transition from youth to senior football, building on the structured pathway that’s already in place at the club.
“If players are good enough and show the right attitude, they’ll be given opportunities to be exposed to the senior environment early.
“That experience is invaluable for their development but, it’s also about getting the balance right with experienced players so we can remain competitive while continuing to build for the future.”
Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies FC General Manager Ross Norgrove welcome Murison to the club saying,
“Mark vision for implementing a clear player pathway and ensuring that player progression is one of his key goals for the club.
“With his vison aligned to that of Briton Ferry Llansawel, Mark was the clear choice for the role, and I look forward to working with him”.
Finally, Mark outlined what Reds supporters can expect to see from his team,
““They can expect a team that works hard, is well organised, and plays with real intensity.
“We want to build on what’s already in place at the club but add a real edge in terms of high energy and physicality, so we can impose ourselves in every game.
“I want us to play front-foot football, dominate territory as much as possible, and be difficult for teams to deal with both in and out of possession.
“We want to excite the fans and give them a team they can really get behind”.
