Profiled: Pontardawe Town Ladies

Pontardawe Town are the visitors to Old Road on Sunday in the Genero Adran Trophy South Group Two.


Ponty finished in second place in last season's SWWGL South and West Women Combined and gained promotion to the Adran South. They were four points behind winners Cardiff Wanderers losing just one game across the season. They were the leagues top scorers netting 101 goals across 20 matches.


Ponty won their opening Adran South match beating Swansea Uni 4-2. Catryn Cook with two goals and goals from Chantelle Jones and Sophie Topper helping them to a first win.


Their second league game saw Ponty lose 4-2 to Cascade. After going two behind goals from Catryn Cook and Beth Kennedy saw them level. Sophie Cardy was sent off with just over 30 minutes to play and an 82nd minute own goal from Rosie May and a second goal for Abbie Davies saw Cascade take the win.


Their last match saw them lose 3-1 in the Welsh Cup to Pencoed Athletic. Paige Crosby getting the Ponty goal.


Last Meeting


The last meeting of the sides came in the 2021/2022 Welsh Cup with The Red's coming out on top. Anna Doble and Chelsea Deacon scoring the goals for the Reds. Both goals coming in the first half and both assisted by Megan Kearle.


One To Watch: Catryn Cook


Cook has made a fantastic start to the season and leads the Adran South scoring charts with three goals so far. Last season she hit nine goals and got eight assists across 18 games. the forward will be handful for the Reds defence this Sunday.
