“The situation with Pontypridd being confirmed as relegated can work in different ways.

“On one hand, they may play with a bit more freedom as the pressure of results has gone, which can make them dangerous.

“On the other hand, we know they will still be a competitive side and will want to finish the season strongly, so we’re preparing for a tough game regardless of the circumstances.”

With three sides very close in the Adran Plate conference the Rhys manager shared his thought on the importance of three points this weekend.

“In terms of the Plate Conference, it’s extremely tight between the three teams, so Sunday’s game is very important.

“Every point at this stage of the season matters, and we know that taking all three points would put us in a strong position.

“That being said, our focus is on our own performance, making sure we approach the game with the right mentality and execute the things we’ve worked on in training.

“Ultimately, we respect the opposition, but the aim for us is clear, to put in a strong performance and try to come away with the three points.”

Opposition Focus:

Pontypridd come to the Renewable Centre Stadium as a tough season for the Dragons saw them relegated from the Adran Premier.  Their relegation comes just a season after their Adran South Title win and promotion last season.

The Dragons have found it tough since coming back into the Adran Premier and have yet to secure a point losing in each of their 15 games.

The sides previous meetings this season have seen wins for the Reds.  Lowri Ridings, Jade Crofts, Maia Owen and Casey Daniels scoring in a 4-0 win at USW Sports Park back in September.  In the return fixture goals from Laura-May Walkley-Witts and Meg Kearle helped Ferry to a 2-1 win.

Ponty’s first Adran Premier Plate Conference game saw them lose to Aberystwyth Town.

Flashback:

While Pontypridd have not got a win this season the history between the sides is in their favour.  In September 2019 the sides met in a Wesh Premier Women’s League Cup (n.b Now Adran Trophy) clash.

Pontypridd were known as Cyncoed at the time and took an early lead though a future Ferry favourite as Alison Witts gave them the lead.  Lowri Baker equalised for the Reds just five minutes later. Witts restored the visitors lead before half time and then completed her hat-trick on 70 minutes as Cyncoed advanced.
