Ferry Flashback:

Two goals from Alison Witts helped the reds to 5-1 victory over Pure Swansea in the last meeting between the sides.

The match in January 2024 came as part of the Reds won the Adran South title with 12 wins from 12 games.

Despite controlling much of the first half the Reds had to wait until added time to take the lead.  The first half saw Jess Denscombe hit the post and Laura-May Walkley-Witts have a shot saved.  Walkley Witts made the late run into the box and found Witts who fired the Reds ahead.

Ferry were 4-0 up within 15 minutes of the second half as they fired three goals in ten minutes. Walkley-Witts added the second goal before Witts grabbed a second.  Witts then set up Alice Broadley for Ferry’s fourth.  Lowri Baker then set up Fleur Jenkins to make it five in the 66th minute.  Katie Horsburgh got a goal for the visitors in the 90th minute.

The win helped the Reds stay top of the Adran South as they went on to win the league.

Opposition Focus:

Pure Swansea currently play in the Adran South where they sit in second place three points behind Cardiff Met.  Swansea have won four and lost two of their six league games this season.  Their last match saw them lose 1-0 to Cwmbran Celtic thanks to a Lauren Boyd goal after ten minutes.

In the last round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup saw them come though a thrilling tie with Taffs Well.  Pure Swansea won on penalties after a 3-3 draw in normal time.  Rhian Wilson put Pure Swansea ahead early on but Abby Rose hit back for Taffs Well.  Pure Swansea lead again before half time as Megan Davies restored their lead.

Just after the restart Rianne Jones levelled again but Davies grabbed a second as Pure Swansea lead again.  Rhianne Jones again equalised and with neither side able to find a winning goal the match went to penalties.  Pure Swansea would win the shoot out 4-2 with Taffs missing their first two penalties.
