Reds aim on point as they beat Archers
With a wild wind blowing across Cyncoed Campus, coupled with driving rain Briton Ferry Llansawel hit four goals as they beat Cardiff Met.
A dominant first half saw the Reds leading 3-0 into half time. Tegan Owen got the Reds off to a flyer when she found the target after five minutes. Holly Hayward doubled the Reds lead with their second goal after 24 minutes. The Reds continued pressuring Met with Freya Peyton and Holly Hayward going close. Then with 40 minutes on the clock Harley Hodge hit the bullseye to put Ferry three up.
The Archers came out in the second half and used the wind to allow them to pressure the Reds. Catrin Lemos pulled a goal back on the hour mark and the Archers then took aim at the Reds goal. Despite multiple chances they failed to really threaten the goal and with four minutes to go Chloe Rudge added a fourth.
The win moves the Reds to third place with six points, six off league leaders Pontypridd United.
The Reds made the perfect start with an early goal. Ferry won a corner which Harley Hodge swung into the box. With the high wind causing problems Tegan Owen made the decisive touch to put the Reds ahead.
Ferry continued to pressure and Freya Peyton won the ball from a Met defender inside the box. Peyton cut inside and hit a low shot at the keeper.
Tegan Owen played a quality pass between two defenders finding the run of Peyton. Peyton lashed a shot across goal but it creep just wide of the post.

A well worked throw deep into Met territory saw the Reds get there second. Working the ball across the pitch Lucy Jones’ cross was missed by a defender allowing Holly Hayward to fire home.
Hayward then forced a good save from the Met keeper with her shot from outside the box needing Verity Jones to be at full stretch to turn away.
Ferry got a third goal before half time thanks to Harley Hodge. From a cross into the box Hayward teed the ball up for Hodge who hit a sweet shot past Jones.

Met who had the wind at their back in the second half created the first chance of the half. A long range effort that Georgia Cobley saved.

Met then got a goal back Catrin Lemos with a shot that Cobley saved but was unlucky as the ball looped over her into the net.
The host continued to pressure as they looked to get back into the game but they were restricted to long range efforts that were wide of the target.
Despite the pressure from Met in the second half the Reds made sure of the win in the 86th minute. Gwen Phillips sliding a ball into Chloe Rudge who lifted the ball over the advancing Met keeper to score.
