Reds move to second after win

Briton Ferry Llansawel moved into second place in the Adran South Under 19's with a 3-0 win over Cascade YC at The Centre for Sporting Excellence.

Freya Peyton got the Reds first goal after 35 minutes after large spells of Reds pressure. Chloe Rudge added a second five minutes before half time and Matilda Matthews added the third three minutes into the second half.

The Reds now sit in second spot with 12 points four points behind leaders Pontypridd United.

Freya Peyton had the first chance of the game with a long range effort that was straight at the Cascade keeper.

The Reds continued to pressure and had another chance as Harley Hodge went close from distance, her shot narrowly missing the target.

Peyton then made a break down the right and squared the ball into the six yard box. The keeper was able to cut her ball out but if fell to Chloe Rudge. Rudge tried to turn the ball in but the keeper did well to smother the ball.

Ferry's breakthrough came in the 35th minute as the host succumbed to the pressure. Hodge played the ball into Peyton. Peyton with her back to goal brought the ball down and chipped the keeper from 20 yards on the turn.

Five minutes later and Ferry had a second. Matilda Matthews found Chloe Rudge in the box and Rudge fired a shot past the keeper.

Charlotte Merry was needed to stop a early second half chance from Cascade. Merry saving a close range shot showing sharp reactions to stop a good chance for the hosts.

The Reds were soon back on the front foot and added a third goal. Peyton playing a fine pass though the Cascade defence for Matilda Matthews to run onto. Matthews then rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the net.

Freya Peyton had a shot from distance that the keeper saved. Peyton's effort going straight at the keeper.

Cascade won a free kick just outside the Ferry box. Merry needed again to turn their effort around the post.

Peyton went close again when she broke from the right and fired a shot across the goal. Cascade keeper Chrissy Kidley getting enough of a touch to turn the ball away.
