Briton Ferry 3-1 Cascade YC: Perfect Ten for Champions

Briton Ferry made it ten wins from ten as the Adran South Champions beat Cascade YC 3-1 at Old Road.

The game went back and forth during the early moments as Cascade looked to soil the Reds party.  Ferry had the better chances as Lexi Clayton went close and Jess Denscombe forced a save from the Cascade keeper.

Laura-May Walkley gave the Reds the lead in the 17th minute.  Cascade then came back into the game and Courtney Young was needed to keep the Reds ahead.  Cascade kept pressuring and got the equaliser from Abbie Davies but a stunning free kick from Lucy Powell saw the Reds lead at the break.

A strong start to the second half saw Walkley hit her second goal in the 49th minute.  Lucy Powell went close with another free kick and Lowri Ridings headed a chance wide.  The Red controlled the play and Cascade were restricted to half chances.  The hosts kept pushing for more goals but Cascade were resolute in their defending and the game ended 3-1

Lucy Powell sent a corner into the box where Alison Witts headed at goal.  Her effort was blocked but the rebound fell to Lexi Clayton who pulled a shot just wide of the post.

Witts played a quick ball to the right to find Jess Denscombe as Ferry looked for a quick attack.  Denscombe hit a shot across goal, but Connolly made a decent save.

Walkley had another chance after getting the ball from Lucy Powell’s corner.  Walkley unleashed a powerful volley, but Connally saved well.

The visitors then hit the home side with a quick break that saw Abbie Davies one on one with Young and fire past her.

Walkley was fouled just outside the Cascade box which allowed Lucy Powell a chance to go at goal.  Powell lifted the ball perfectly over the keeper to restore the Reds lead.
