Briton Ferry Llansawel 4-0 Cardiff Wanderers: Reds hit Wanderers for four

Briton Ferry Llansawel got their Adran Trophy campaign off with a 4-0 win over Cardiff Wanderers. After a shaky start at Old Road The Red's got the first goal and went in to half time ahead and then added three in the second half.


The early minutes of the game saw The Reds be more forward thinking. Trying to push their opponents back and create chances. Wanderers defended but looked to hit Ferry on the counterattack with quick breaks.


The Reds struggled to get their game going and started to allow Cardiff chances. However, The Reds got the first goal thanks to Mollie Jones on 26 minutes. The goal coming as the visitors were starting to get into the game. As the half went on Ferry began to dominate and have multiple chances to extend their lead.


Wanderers started then second half pressing the hosts and closing players down. The Reds were brighter in the second half and put Cardiff under pressure from the off. The pressure told as Mollie Jones and Lucy Powell both scored to extend the lead. Megan Kearle added a fourth goal after 86 minutes.


Ferry passed the ball around better in the second half and pushed Wanderers deep inside their own half. The visitors weren't just sitting and broke forward when they had the chance and created serval chances.


Ferry had the chance to get the ball into the box as a good pass out wide from Mollie jones found Lowri Barker. Barker’s first attempt at a cross was blocked but she got the ball back and played it across goal, however Wanderers were able to clear.


Fleur Jenkins had the first chance for Ferry as she won the ball on the edge of the box and tried to lob the keeper. The ball went just over the bar.


Ela Roberts played a clinical pass though the Wanders defence that almost found Chelsea Deacon free in the box. Wanderers’ keeper Jordan Cleaver did well to come out quickly to claim the ball.


Llywela Edwards won a free kick on the edge of the box. Edwards sent the ball towards the far corner with a runner almost connecting at the back post. A bit of a let off for the home side.


Edwards played a good ball though for Jade Croft, but the ball was a bit too far ahead of her and Courtney Young covered the ball to go out of play.


Ferry got the first goal as Wanderers were staring to gain a foothold. Lucy Powell sent a corner to the far post where Mollie Jones was able to head home to break the deadlock.


Jones forced a mistake from Rachel Beare and won the ball on the edge of the box. Jones shot quickly but pulled her effort wide.


Jones soon after won a free kick on the edge of the box after a foul by Beare. Chelsea Deacon laying the ball to Lucy Powell, but she shot wide.


Megan Kearle almost scored as hit long range effort cannon off the underside of the bar but didn’t cross the line.

Chelsea Deacon won the ball on the left side and worked way into the box along the touchline. She sent the ball into the near post area and Lucy Powell squeezed between the defender and keeper to put the ball in the net. 2-0 Ferry.


It was soon 3-0 as Lucy Powell played a ball over the top which found the run of Mollie jones in the box. Jones with a deft little touch past the keeper to score her fourth of the season.


Anna Stevenson got herself into the box and took a shot which forced a save from Courtney Young. Soon after Young was called on again to save from Jade Croft. Young saved again from the rebound to keep out Wanderers.


Mollie Jones went for her hat-trick as she cut past a defender to shoot form the edge of the box. A decent effort that went just wide of the post.


Lucy Powell went for goal from distance, but her effort was too close for the keeper. Megan Kearle also tried from distance, but her effort went straight at the keeper.


The visitors were still having some chances and Jade Croft forced a stunning save from Young. Getting the ball in the box Croft sent a shot across goal to the far post. The ball looked to be going in but Young at full stretch got a hand to turn it around the post.


A good flowing passing move the Red's found Megan Kearle in the box on goal. Kearle fired a shot at goal but Cleaver made the save.


Fleur Jenkins tried to drive though the heart of the Wanderers defence. Taking the ball in the middle of the park and going past several players towards the box before she was eventually dispossessed.


Jade Croft almost pulled a goal back with a powerful long range effort that smashed off the bar.
