Briton Ferry will head into the FAW Welsh Women’s Cup Semi Finals after a 5-1 win over Cardiff Wanderers.
The Reds started brightly and took the game to their hosts. Lowri Baker giving the Reds the lead after four minutes. Lucy Powell made it 2-0 after 13 minutes as the visitors stared to take control of the game.
Ferry started the second half on the front foot and got their third goal thanks to Ela Roberts after 51 minutes. Jade Crofts pulled a goal back for the home side after 62 minutes. Lowri Ridings made it 4-1 on 74 minutes. Olivia Townsend added Ferry fifth on 77 minutes.
Jess Denscombe’s early shot was blocked for a Ferry corner. Megan Kearle sent the ball into the box, but Wanderers were able to scramble clear.
The early pressure told as Laura-May Walkley’s pass cut open the Wanders defence and found Lowri Baker. Baker took a touch before firing past the keeper.
Ferry kept pushing Wanderers back during the early minutes but had their chances restricted by a stubborn Cardiff defence.
It would take something special to get the second goal and Lucy Powell delivered after 13 minutes. Striking the ball from distance her effort looped over the outstretched hand of the Wanders keeper Jordan Cleaver.
Fleur Jenkins was soon in on goal, but her effort went just wide of the post. Then soon after Megan Kearle went close as her shot went just over the bar.
A high ball over the Wanderers defence found Jess Denscombe. Denscombe cut inside and shot from the edge of the box, but her effort went just wide.
Jade Crofts shot went out off Courtney Young for a Wanderers corner. The corner was sent into the box but Young was able to punch away.
A foul on Alice Broadley earned a Ferry a free kick just to the left of the box. Megan Kearle went for goal, but it was a comfortable save for the keeper.
Alisha Northmore sent a free kick into the box, but Lowri Ridings was able to head clear.
Jade Crofts went close on a counterattack, but her effort went just wide of the post.

Laura-May Walkley won a free kick out on the left. Megan Kearle swung the ball into the box where Lowri Ridings met it, but her header went wide.
Ela Roberts was sent though on goal, and she hit a shot over the keeper, Cleaver in goal got her hands to the ball but let it slip though into the net.
Lucy Powell sent a free kick from just inside the Wanderers half towards the box where Lowri Baker met it. Her header from the edge of the box went wide.
Llywela Edwards won the ball and played it across to Jade Crofts. Crofts ran into the box and put the ball past Young.
The goal gave the home side a new energy and they started to push the Reds back.
Laura-May Walkley set up Megan Kearle for a shot at goal but her effort on the turn went into the side netting.
Fleur Jenkin picked up a loose ball and went forward and was able to have a shot at goal, but it was straight at the keeper.
Ferry restored the three-goal lead after 73 minutes when captain Lowri Ridings headed powerfully past the keeper from Lucy Powell’s corner.
Soon after Olivia Townsend, on her debut scored a stunning goal from distance to make it 5-1. Megan Kearle making a smart interception and then finding Townsend, who stepped past the defender and then curled the ball past the keeper.
Megan Jones had a late effort for Wanderers but it was straight at Young.
