Cwmbran Celtic 0-10 Briton Ferry Llansawel: Reds win big on the Road

Briton Ferry produced a ruthless performance as they beat Cwmbran Celtic 10-0 in the Adran Trophy.


The fixture saw a second match in row between the side after the Reds won 6-0 last week in the Adran South. The Reds dominated the game and consistently produced changes to score.


The win sees the Reds take top spot of Group 1 of the South section.

Ferry got an early goal as Alison Witts gave the Reds the lead after five minutes. Megan Kearle picked the ball up in the middle and made a driving run towards the box. She then played the ball though and found the run of Witts who slotted the ball past the keeper.


Megan Kearle made her way into the box and was brought down. Alison Witts sent the ball to the left and despite the keeper getting a touch there was too much power on the kick.


Meg Kearle played the ball across field and found Jess Denscombe. From 30 yards out she lifted the ball over the keeper and into the far corner of the net.

Meg Kearle went close then herself as her effort from the edge of the box went just wide of the post. Then she cut in from the left and forced a save from Megan Davies at the near post.


Lowri Ridings added a fourth in the 39th minute. After Cwmbran were unable to clear a Ferry corner Ridings hit a low shot though the crowd in the box. Davies able to get a hand to the ball but unable to stop it.


A minute later and it was five as Fleur Jenkins’ stunning shot went in off the post. Jenkins in on goal hit a shot across the keeper and in off the inside of the far post.

Ferry got a free kick min a dangerous position as Alison Witts was fouled. Meg Kearle took the kick and curled the ball just over the bar.

Elosie Meany had the first chance of the second half as she hit a shot from distance. Her effort was straight a Courtney Young who made a comfortable save.


Meg Kearle sent a cross into the box finding Alison Witts who headed against the post. Lowri Baker was first to the loose ball to tap in.


Laura-May Walkley put the ball into the box to Alison Witts who was clear on goal. From close range in the centre of the goal Witts fired past the keeper to complete her hat trick.


Fleur Jenkins forced a good save from the keeper with her shot from the edge of the box.


Alison Witts set up Baker for her second after 63 minutes. Witts giving the ball to Baker on the right who deftly put the ball over the keeper into the net.


Jess Denscombe broke though the Cwmbran defence and whipped the ball into the box. Her cross hit one of the Cwmbran defenders and went into the goal.


Kearle sent a ball over the top for Mollie Jones to chase. Jones got to the ball, but the keeper got out quickly to block her chance.

In added time and Player of the Match Laura-May Walkley added the tenth as she headed in at the far post from a Ferry corner.
