Llanelli Town 0-6 Briton Ferry Llansawel: Walkley double inspires Ferry Victory

Briton Ferry continued their 100% record in the Adran South with a 6-0 win over Llanelli Town at Stebonheath Park.


Llanelli tried to make if difficult for the Reds during the first half playing deep and defending in numbers.  Ferry did manage to make the breakthrough after 28 minutes when Fleur Jenkins opened the scoring.  Five minutes later Laura-May Walkley added a second sending Ferry into half time two up.

The Reds controlled the second half and barely allowed Llanelli out of their half.  Fleur Jenkins added her second after 55 minutes before Alison Witts add two more with Walkley also getting her second.  Ferry created lots of chances and Llanelli keeper Jo Nowak-Allum making several saves.


The win see’s Briton Ferry go five points clear at the top of the Adran South. 

 

Laura-May Walkley won the Reds an early free kick to the right of the box.  Lowri Baker sent the ball into the box were Alison Witts got her head on to it.  Her header was heading wide but Lowri Ridings kept the ball alive and found Lexi Clayton who shot into the side netting.


Jess Denscombe sent in a cross and Laura-May Walkley hit an overhead kick that went just wide of the post.


Walkley was causing Llanelli problems, and she made another run into the box and got a cross away.  Lowri Baker was on the end of the cross but headed straight at the keeper.


Anya Welch slid the ball into the path of Walkley who then sent a cross into the six-yard box.  Alison Witts met it, but her cushion effort went straight into the arms of the keeper.


It was Walkley who created the games first goal.  Taking the ball past two defenders Walkley then played it to Fleur Jenkins who fired a shot past the keeper.

Walkley then added a goal herself.  Exchanging passes with Alison Witts thought he middle, Witts put Walkley clear, and she fired a low shot past the Llanelli keeper.


Lowri Baker had a good chance to add a third when her effort towards the corner was turned around the post by the keeper.

A good passing move down the left allowed Walkley to send the ball into the box for Alison Witts.  Witts stuck the ball, but it went just past the post.


Walkley cut in from the left and fired a shot from outside the box that needed a strong hand from the keeper.


Fleur Jenkins added the third sending the ball into the top corner when a Ferry corner wasn’t cleared fully.


A chipped pass over a defender from Walkley found Alison Witts in on goal.  Witts from close range put the ball past the keeper.

Jenkins won the ball and then played it forward into the path of Alison Witts.  Witts made her way into the box and scored slotting the ball into the near post.


Walkley made another run into the box and fired a shot that crashed off the crossbar.  Moments later and Walkley did find the net turning in from Lucy Powell's ball into the box.


Ferry kept pushing for more goals and Megan Kearle saw her effort cleared off the line and Alison Witts hit the side netting late on.
