Over the festive period last year Briton Ferry Llansawel faced Cardiff City at Old Road on December 29th


With both teams competing at the top of the table a bumper crowd of 481 saw a thrilling game which saw the Reds gain their first ever win over the Bluebirds.

Maia Owen gave Ferry the lead after 18 minutes, Tija Richardson finding Alison Witts who set Owen up for a tap in at the far post.  Ffion Price levelled for Cardiff just before half time. 


The second half saw the visitors look to take control and Ferry were forced to defend.  The hard work at the back paid off when in the 59th minute Laura-May Walkley-Witts made a run into the box.  Walkley-Witts then finding Lucy Powell who restored the Reds lead.  Powell the in the 79th minute chipped the ball over the keeper to make it 3-1 to Ferry.

Opposition Focus:

Cardiff city come to The Renewable Centre this weekend as the Adran Premier enters the final four fixtures of phase one. 


The Bluebirds dropped to second place in the table after last weekends results.  Cardiff drawing with The New Saints along with Wrexham’s win over Swansea City meaning the reigning champions drop from the top spot.

Lily Billingham and Laura Curnock both scored late into the game at Leckwith last Sunday to rescue a point for Cardiff after TNs had lead 3-1 with goals from Lexi Harrison, Caitlin Chapman and Zara Gibbs.  The result meaning the Bluebirds are now two points behind new leaders Wrexham.  The Reds win over Barry Town last week along with this result kept their hopes of a top four finish alive as they are just one point behind TNS in fourth. 


Cardiff City have not lost a match this season since their defeat to The New Saints on the opening day.  They have won every game bar two draws, last week to TNS and Wrexham in October.


History in this fixture sides with Cardiff who have won the last two meetings.  Last season saw Cardiff ended The Reds 29 game unbeaten run at Old Road.  Mackenzie Olden and Ffion Price getting the goals in a 2-0 Cardiff win.  In September The Reds went to Cardiff International Sports Campus and suffered a 5-1 defeat to the Bluebirds. 


Stadium:

The Renewable Centre Stadium features Two Stands for seating.  The Old Road stand has low level seating close to the pitch while the Macron Stand has higher level seating offering great views of the pitch. 


There is a raised standing area next to the Macron Stand and standing is permitted behind the goal at the Bar Red end of the stadium.

There is an accessible seating area in the Old Road Stand for any supporters with mobility needs. 


The Stadium is dog friendly but we do ask that all dogs are kept on a lead and owners clean any mess made. 


Visiting supporters are welcome to use all areas of the stadium. 


Bar Red will be open pre and post game for hot and cold drinks and snacks.  Any alcoholic beverages  must be consumed in Bar Red and are not permitted in any other part of the Stadium.
