Match Report: Briton Ferry Llansawel 1-3 Swansea City

Reds end Phase one with defeat

Briton Ferry Llansawel fell to defeat to Swansea City as Rhys James made his return to the dugout. 


Sammy Wynne gave the Swans an early lead after they began the game quickly.  Maia Owen won a penalty for Ferry which Lucy Powell converted.  A strong start to the second half saw Swansea add two goals though Aimee Deacon and Taite Trivett.  The Reds fought back and missed out on a second when Lucy Powell missed a penalty late on.  Jess Denscombe then hit the bar in added time. 

Swansea had an early chance when they played the ball into the path of Taite Trivett.  Trivett hitting a shot across goal but wide of the target.


The visitors took an early lead though Sammy Wynne after four minutes after putting the Reds under heavy pressure.


Maia Owen won the ball deep in the Swansea half and broke into the box.  She flicked the ball past the keeper and was then brought down with Ferry being awarded a penalty.   Lucy Powell confidently sent the keeper the wrong way to level the scores. 


Swansea were then given a free kick when Georgia Howells fouled.  They went for goal but Courtney Young dived across goal to turn away.

Howells sent a good ball over the Swansea back line which allowed Jade Crofts to run onto.  Crofts under pressure hit a shot that went just wide.


Swansea had a free kick just before half hour which was taken by Chloe Chivers.  Chivers sent the ball high and wide of the Ferry goal.


The Reds then had a free kick which Lucy Powell sent to the far post, but Crofts who was coming in was offside.


The visitors then almost went ahead again as they first hit the post  and then saw a follow up shot blocked.


Crofts was then able to win the ball from the Swans defence and get a shot away forcing a save from the keeper.

Swansea made a fast start and pushed ferry back form the off.  They had a couple of k=half chances before Courtney Young was need to save a shot from close range.  Chloe Chivers then sent the ball across goal for Aimee Deacon to score.


The visitors kept up the pressure on the Reds and Tatie Trivett sent a shot wide form distance.

The visitors were looking to grab a third and Maise Miller stuck  a vicious strike that Young needed to save. 


The away teams pressure eventually told when Trivett added a third.


The Reds kept looking for a way back into the game and Maia Owen went close when she run though the defence but was unable to get her shot on target,

Manon Thomas came off the bench and went close to pulling a goal back as her low shot went just wide of the post. 


Maia Owen who had been a thorn in the Swans defence all evening was brought down in the box again winning a second penalty.  Lucy Powell took the spot kick but was unable to convert.
