Match Report: Pontypridd United 0-4 Briton Ferry Llansawel: Reds on fire as first win secured

Briton Ferry Llansawel secured their first win of the season with a resounding 4-0 win over Pontypridd United at USW Sports Park.
A goalless first half saw chances at both ends with Ferry having serval chances while Ponty looked threatening when they did venture forward. Ponty keeper Alysha Hawkins making multiple saves to keep the Reds at bay. Ferry keeper Courtney Young was needed at times to ensure that the host’s do not open the scoring.
The Reds did get the first goal shortly after half time with Lowri Ridings heading them ahead. Soon after Ferry doubled their lead Jade Crofts with her second of the season. Maia Owen added a third with 70 minutes gone with her subline chip over the keeper. With six minutes left Casey Daniels scored her first goal in a Ferry shirt to round off a strong display from the Reds.
The win lifts Ferry into sixth place in the Adran Premier table on three points with the teams above them all on six. TNS will come to The Renewable Centre Stadium next Sunday.
An early chance for the Reds as Meg Kearle broke down the left and played the ball across the box. Jade Crofts tried to put the ball in at the near post but the keeper saved.

Another chance almost came when Jade Crofts sent the ball though the defence for Maia Owen. The Ponty keeper was able to clear the ball before Owen could reach it.
Maddison Lloyd almost broke though the Ferry defence but a well timed tackle from Lowri Ridings stopped her.
Lucy Powell went close with a curling shot from outside the box which had the Ponty keeper at full stretch to turn away.
Ferry went close again when they won a free kick to the left of the box. Meg Kearle swung the ball towards the far post but was just wide.
Ferry kept the pressure on their hosts and Ashley Griffiths forced another save from the keeper. Griffiths with space in the middle hitting a shot from distance that needed a decent save.
Ponty had a chance to take the lead against the run of play. A good ball across the Ferry box needed a hand from Courtney Young and Lowri Ridings needed to be alert to stop a shot from the loose ball.
Crofts showed some great skills as she set up Thomas for another effort from the edge of the box. Again the Ponty keeper diving across goal to save.

A change at the break as Freya Peyton came on and she was straight into the action forcing a save from the keeper. From the resulting corner Ridings headed wide at the back post from Lucy Powell’s corner.
Ridings made no mistake just after as another corner was sent in this time from Meg Kearle. Ridings raising above everyone to power a header into the net.

The Reds then extended their lead when Ashley Griffiths sent a lovely ball into the path of Crofts who fired a rifle like shot past the keeper.
Ferry were on a mission after the goals and Maia Owen worked her way past two defenders and went close to a goal with her low shot.
Owen then won a free kick which Kearle sent into the box finding Crofts who headed just wide.
Crofts went close again after a quality ball from Alice Broadley found her in the box. Crofts hitting a shot that again needed saving.
Meg Kearle pressured the Ponty defence and won the ball before sending Maia Owen clear. Owen then calmly lifted the ball over the keeper.

Ferry’s non stop pressure saw them break though Ponty’s backline again. Georgia Howells send the ball though to Casey Daniels who put the ball past the keeper.
